Ted Kennedy stumbled into my awareness sometime in the mid-70s, as the butt of late-night jokes. I didn’t understand the references to driving and bridges and drowning, but I did understand that this Kennedy was some relation to the demi-god who was assassinated before I was born, and his younger brother, who was assassinated shortly after.
