Grand opening set for new animal shelter
A public grand opening for the new 30,000-square-foot animal shelter in east Vancouver will take place Sunday.
Tour the shelter, at 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., between 12:30 and 4 p.m., and enjoy live music, concessions and children’s activities. Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard and other city officials will be on hand.

Story is hitting all the area media outlets about a local elderly woman who was overwhelmed with keeping 42 cats in her home. According to The Columbian:
Animal protection officers on Tuesday seized about 42 cats — many suffering from medical problems and malnutrition — in a raid at the home of an elderly woman on Southeast 11th Street in east Vancouver.
