I-1098 is a sensible reform getting rid of the poorly thought out B&O tax for small businesses, providing a reduction in property taxes and adding an income tax on the top 3% of income earners in the state. My only concern is that once an income tax is passed, the income threshold will eventually be lowered thereby adding to the middle class tax burden. [...]

This graphic to the right doesn’t make one proud to be a Washingtonian. And a big part of the reason is Washington, like Florida, has no state income tax. So the sales taxes, the property taxes and all the other “taxes” just keep climbing on the poor while the rich get richer.

Brian Baird chimes in on his misguided, doing nothing for “the people”, vote for the bailout:

There is an article in the Guardian Unlimited today about Mike Huckabee’s proposed Federal tax reform. Low and behold it sounds virtually identical to Mike Gravel’s proposal. If anyone knows which Mike crossed the road first, please let me know in the comments.
As with any major tax reform, there would be major difficulties getting this passed and major difficulties with implementation.
