The Columbian gives cover to Radical Homophobic Agenda

It seems that The Columbian equates giving religious fundamentalist fringe “a seat at the table” with bestowing a high honor on one of its leaders. The following is my response to their latest Cheers & Jeers:

After the hyperpartisanship and ideologically driven policy that marked the outgoing administration there is no disagreement that it is a necessary and admirable endeavor for Obama to be gracious in [...]

get some camomile tea for that tillerman, would ya?

Maybe that would calm him down a little bit.

John McCain can’t believe that Barack Obama could ever be his equal, much less his rival for the Oval Office.

What came through last night was McCain’s unerring sense of entitlement to the Presidency, and his being absolutely appalled at the, yes, audacity of Barack Obama thinking he could ever be even half the man that John McCain [...]

Use a leash to protect your dog or else

There is a letter to the editor in the Columbian this morning that deserves some clarification and further discussion. The letter is entitled, “Obey law and use a leash” and concerns leashing your dog:

While walking along the busy river walk by Interstate 5 Bridge, I saw three dogs being walked by their owners, and none were on leashes. All were [...]

and the claude rains no-shit-sherlock award goes to…

From TPM come some distillations from the Phase II/What the Fuck Happened on the Way to Iraq report (pdf):

–Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa’ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa’ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence.

–Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to [...]

    The Year of the CAT

    by

    Ramona D. Marek, MS Ed.

It is well-established that we Americans love our pets with 49.7 percent of us considering them part of the family. New statistics published by the American Veterinary Medical Association’s 2007 U.S. Pet Ownership and Demographics Sourcebook (“Sourcebook”) show cats now rank as America’s first pet with 82 million owned cats to 71 million dogs. But a closer look reveals startling data [...]

Tornado at the Dragon King restaurant

Was having lunch at the Dragon King restaurant on 78th street around noon time today and luck was with me. We took one of our dogs with us and because of him, I parked as far away from the restaurant as possible in the parking lot because he has territorial issues.

Was finishing up my first plate of fried Scallops, Pork Chow Mein, Potstickers, Egg Foo [...]

    A Dog’s Purpose

This comes through a dedicated manager at our Humane Society for Southwest Washington.

    A Dog’s Purpose (from a 6-year-old.)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he [...]
