    my obama-topia

I just heard on the radio that that DLC quisling Rahm Emanuel is Obama’s likely choice for Chief of Staff. Crap.

While my opinion doesn’t mean squat, here’s my dream cabinet, which includes promoting FEMA back to cabinet level (and taking it out of Dept. of Homeland Security):

Department of Agriculture: Senator Tom Harkin
Department of Commerce: Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Oregon
Department of Defense: General Wesley Clark
    Department of [...]

    hulk bad

    Hulk convicted:

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, was convicted on all seven charges of making false statements on Senate financial documents about gifts he received from contractor Bill Allen, oil services company VECO Corp., and others.

Guilty, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty.

I like the sound of that.

    How about you, Don Young?

How Come Cindy Didn’t Help Her Out Instead?

Politico is reporting that the RNC paid for the Alaska Disasta’s $150,000 wardrobe since August.  This is raising legal questions as normally items that are personal in nature cannot be purchased with campaign funds.

Seems to me that since Cindy McCain grossed over $4.1 million last year (and over $6 million in 2006), John should have asked her to pick up this minor expenditure.  After all [...]

    Palinology

David Michael Green publishes another near perfect post about Palinology:

Whoa and Woe: Living In Sarah Palin’s America (collapsible content, click to show/hide)

I can’t tell you how despondent I’ve grown in the last weeks.

Is there really no hope for this country, after all? It now appears so.

In January of 2003, John Le Carre wrote that, “America has entered one of its periods of historical madness, but [...]

    What’s Not To Dislike?

10 Things You Need To Know About Sarah Palin

    1. She is presently under investigation in Alaska for abuse of power
    2. She believes creationism should be taught in public schools
    3. She is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest
    4. She strongly supports big oil (her husband works for oil company BP)
    5. She has no federal or international experience. Prior to [...]

    it’s pat!

I don’t watch much teevee, so my exposure to Sarah Palin has been largely audio. Every time I hear her speak, I’d swear it’s Julia Sweeney channeling Lynn Cheney. But really it’s just Tracy Flick, all grown up and ready to take over the world.

Palin last night with Charlie Gibson (who at least from the transcript didn’t suck quite as much as I [...]

    cruelty, thy name is sarah

    Unfuckingbelievable.

Under Mayor Palin, Wasilla, Alaska charged rape victims for the forensic tests known as “rape kits,” which are necessary to successful prosecution of rapists and which almost every other town in Alaska (and I assume in the country) pays for out of municipal funds.

But Mayor Palin’s police chief didn’t want to burden taxpayers with $5,000 to $14,000 a year for the forensic exams at a [...]

a chunk of ice the size of manhattan is hard to deny

But then maybe it’s just god’s will:

OTTAWA (AFP) — Two ice shelves in Canada’s far north have lost massive sections since August while a third ice shelf now is adrift in the Arctic Ocean, said researchers Wednesday who blamed climate change.

The entire 50 square-kilometer (19 square-mile) Markham Ice Shelf off the coast of Ellesmere Island broke away in early August and is now adrift, while [...]
