I usually get the 1 p.m. lunch slot, and that means I’m usually in the office alone for the live broadcast of maron v. seder.
Sam and Marc were two of the best hosts AAR had, and they got shit on repeatedly by the network and particularly the inexplicably Lionel-loving Greenes. The suits had no idea the talent they had there. But Marc and Sam were never great when they were on the same show because the oppositional nature of their relationship, the issues didn’t get covered.
But in this format, their animosity (or schtick) works, and today Maron got so worked up that he ended up mistakenly giving out his personal cell phone number on the air. It’s that kind of unexpected hilarity that makes the show. Marc is so open and vulnerable, and Sam is so externalized and guarded, that they are the perfect pair.
Watch it live, or catch it delayed; it’s definitely worth 30-60 minutes of your time.
