State Senator Eric Oemig to sponsor resolution to impeach Bush – Cheney

Update: Here is a link to Oemig’s bill (pdf).

State Senator Eric Oemig will announce this Saturday, February 10th, 1:00 p.m., that he will sponsor our resolution to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney to the Washington State Senate. This is a wonderful milestone in our campaign to impeach through the Washington State Legislature. Congress has failed in its duty to call the Bush administration into account. The Constitution gives The People the power to impeach through their State
Legislatures. When any one state legislature adopts a resolution to impeach, it goes to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives as a privileged item.

When: Saturday, February 10, 1-3 p.m. Doors open at 12:00 noon.

Where: The Bradford Center, 752 108th Avenue Ne, Downtown Bellevue, next to the First Congregational Church. It is close to the transit center and to the Bellesquare Mall.

Who: Sponsored by Eastside Fellowship of Reconciliation, working with a coalition of peaceful patriots for impeachment.

Please pass this announcement along. We want to pack the room for this media event!

    More recent info:

Here is more on this from Postman of the Seattle Times. Apparently Senator Oemig is calling for an investigation, not an impeachment according to Postman.

And more from the The Stranger’s Slog.

Here is Senator Oemig’s speech from the actual event On Feb. 10:

Congratulations and thanks to Eric Oemig and all the good souls in Washington for making yours the 6th state in the USA to introduce A Resolution to Impeach!!!
Over here in the Garden State we’re working hard to make New Jersey the 7th state to do the same. Our General Assembly Assistant State Majority Leader drafted a resolution to impeach, and we aim to get it introduced before the 4th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq on March 19th.

The real patriots working together across our country can stop the escalation of the Iraq war and we can stop Bush’s plans to attack Iran. Thanks for everything you’re doing to restore justice and reclaim democracy in our commonwealth. Anybody interested can reach me direct just by clicking HUTCH
