Dear MoveOn member,
I know you’re busy. If you’re like me, you sometimes wish politics was someone else’s responsibility.
But it’s not. There is no one else to do this work. It’s just us.
We’ve got less than 192 hours to go before Election Day. So if you’ve never made a political call before in your life—now’s the time. This week can be a turning point, but we need everyone pushing together to tip it over the top. You can get started right now by clicking here.
To start the week off strong, we’re aiming to make 45,000 calls to voters TODAY. It’s a big goal, but the calls are important: these folks are more likely to vote if they get them. We don’t want to write any of these people off. And control of Congress hangs in the balance.
Making a call to a voter can sound kind of scary, but it’s really easy and even fun.
Here’s how it works: we’ve gone through the voter lists in the tightest, most important races in the country, and we’ve picked out the progressive people who vote in presidential elections but not midterm elections like this year’s.
All the experts say that if you just make a couple of reminder calls to these folks—so that they know when the election is and where to go to vote—it makes a huge difference. So we tried it out in a test earlier this year, with all the scientific bells and whistles. And you know what? It really does.
The calls themselves are short and simple—basically a 1-minute conversation. We give you the numbers and the script. We give you background on the district—everything you need to feel good about calling.
Everything’s ready. This is our week. All that we’re missing is you. Can you join in?
It’s time someone took responsibility for this country. And if it’s not going to be our president, and if it’s not going to be the Congress, well then, it’s going to be you, me, and 3 million of our friends. Let’s do it.
Thanks for all you do,
–Adam, Joan, Ben, Eli and the MoveOn.org Political Action Team
