It is hard to forgive Colin Powell for his misguided UN speech that helped take us to war. But this “straight talk” from Meet the Press is a first step.

Powell’s words about McCain were gratuitous at best. Bet Papa Bush is pissed. Powell’s statements about Muslim prejudice, exhibited extensively by many of those associated with the Republican Party and his other criticisms of his party, makes one wonder if he is considering leaving his party. Such defections will probably become commonplace if Obama is elected and is successful in turning the US in a more positive direction. The good thing is Obama really has nowhere to go but up, so deep is the hole we have dug.

Please let this be the start of a new era for the USA and not another stolen election. Please.
