    Make It Right

    J. has a hard time buying gifts for me. Even when I say I don’t need anything, or ask for something that can’t be bought (this year I asked that we adopt the stray cat that’s been camped out on our front porch for a month), he thinks he needs to get me something. (He’s great at picking out gifts for L., who is also a guy and shares J.’s love of sports, music and anything electronic with buttons to push.)

This year he figured it out, even better than I could have: he made a donation in my name to Make It Right, Brad Pitt’s home-rebuilding project in the Ninth Ward.

Way to go, J. That’s the best gift you’ve ever given me.

Hope all of you had a fabulous holiday, however you celebrate it (or not).

Update: By the time I got home from work today, J. had already taken Blanca (the new kitty) to the vet for all her shots, a flea treatment, and spaying, and she’ll be ready to come home tomorrow. What a guy.

And speaking of pets and donations…: We would love to give our very healthy and happy plecostomus a new and more spacious home if anyone has room in their aquarium. He’s about a year old and at least 5″ long, evidently only about half grown (not what we were told when we bought him as a non-aggressive algae eater for our small aquarium). I will gladly bring him to you. Hope this isn’t frowned on here at D4V, but I figured since I was talking pets in general, it was okay.
