As of today, I’ve been at this three years, with more than 1,800 posts over at my place, just over 1.64 posts a day.

While my cynical husband wonders what good all my blathering has done, I can point to one small benefit: my mental health has been – at least somewhat – preserved, in spite of the worst BushCo can do.

The last month or so I’ve been losing my optimism, wondering if this country can really elect an African American, and even if it does, what we can accomplish with corporate and media overlords that assure the U.S. remains fat, dumb and, if not happy, at least too afraid to question those above them, so that they blame those who are by their side, ready to fight.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I believe information is the key. If Obama is elected, we must press him to release Reagan’s and Bush 41s papers (the ones that Dubya locked up when the 12-year statutory period ended, so we couldn’t see all the rot that would flow from that period to this in the likes of Elliot Abrams, John Negroponte et al). The boil that is this country’s false belief in the patriotism and goodness of the Republican party must be lanced, and getting the facts out about Bush I, and Reagan, and Iran Contra is a start.

We must also push for a full investigation into BushCo, from Cheney’s energy meetings to 9/11 to Iraq to Cheney’s and Rove’s sticky fingerprints all over the latest imbroglio in Georgia, and extract from Obama a promise not to sweep the murderous nonsense of the last 7½ years under the rug. If it were not for Clinton’s policy of forgive and forget in the wake of Bush I’s pardon spree, we might not be where we are today.

Finally, and most importantly, we must begin impeachment proceedings, as this is the only constitutional way to relieve Dummy of his pardon powers. If he is under impeachment, he cannot pardon anyone. It doesn’t matter if the impeachment process reaches conclusion before January 20, 2009 – it just needs to begin. This is the only way we will avoid ending up right back here 8 years from now, after an Obama presidency has righted the country’s course and our economic and energy crises are stabilized, and the GOP sees their chance in this peaceful lull for another lunge at Family Values and Tax Cuts and the Safety Net is teh Socialism.

Even when times are good, we can’t let our guard down. Because the GOP is the Undead, and it will keep coming back so long as it can keep its polluted and putrid innards hidden from view.

So I’ll keep this up as long as I can, as much for my sake as whatever small good it will do out there on the Internets.

    Cheers.

You are not just preserving YOUR sanity but helping others keep theirs.

With all the misinformation and spin out there it is easy to start believing the noise machine is something more than BS and to think what you know to be the truth to be some kind of mental illness. That has already happened unfortunately to a big part of the population imo.

And that is why I hope you will keep up your pithy posts.

There is more real news and insight on sites like yours than there is from those 150 channels on TV. And it is free, what a deal.

If you have ever stopped watching TV for an extended period of time (years), you probably have noticed the effect of UNbrainwashing yourself. Wish more people would take the plunge and turn off the tube and turn on the truth.
