Obama is in a no-win situation from which he will not recover politically unless he acts boldly and changes course immediately. The President must get both Houses of Congress to strip the mandatory insurance provisions from the bills. Then a new reconciliation bill (51 votes only needed in the Senate) must be forced through Congress expanding Medicare for All or at least provide for a non-mandatory public option. Anything short of those accomplishments means President Obama will spend the next three years as a failed President. And he will take most of the Democratic Party down with him. Lieberman’s career is finally over. Hoorah. And Howard Dean and John McCain actually agree on something. Who’d have thunk all this a year ago? Politics is never a dull moment.
