    Random Recitals

The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected.

    Senator Pridemore on Health Care

While I disagree with Senator Pridemore that a bad bill with a couple of good provisions is better than no bill at all, Craig deserves praise for staking out a very clear position on health care reform.  The Democrats have to pass legislation that will provide health care at a reasonable cost to both businesses and individuals.  It needs to be [...]

    Pridemore Record Speaks for Itself

    Meet Craig Pridemore

Take a look at his voting record.

    Craig Pridemore

Follow Craig and his Congressional campaign on Facebook here and here.

You can donate to his campaign here and here.  I just did.  We need more people like Craig who delivers what he promises and who will stand up for us in [...]

Rep Deb Wallace Wants to Fix Sales Tax Loophole

Even if the Washington State budget wasn’t busted, it is unfair and bad policy to allow Oregon residents an exemption from sales taxes in Washington.  Oregon does not allow Washington residents an exemption from their income tax.  It is also unlikely that very many Oregon residents actually travel to Washington to purchase merchandise given that their state is sales tax free.

Local Blogger Chris Bassett Quoted in Oregonian Baird Article

Local blogger extraordinaire, Chris Bassett, was quoted in an Oregonian (Mapes on Politics) article about Clark County politics and the increasingly odd behavior of the 3rd District Representative Brian Baird.

Former Democratic activist Chris Bassett, whose blog on Clark County politics I discovered today, points to county-by-county returns on the two big initiatives on last week’s ballot. Voters in each county of the district, outside [...]

    Little Boxes

Old Barn In Vancouver No More (click to enlarge)

This magnificent structure was torn down a couple days ago.  It was about a mile from my home (119th st and 72nd ave) and I had grown attached to it for reasons unknown.  Maybe it was because I have never been around a building that had a see-through roof.  Or maybe it was because [...]

    Run Hedrick Run

The possibility of David Hedrick, spokesman for the angry Town Hall mob locally, running against Brian Baird in the next election cycle is intriguing.  Since there are already two other possible Republican contenders, it means there would be 3 R candidates running in the primary.

If another Democrat enters the race and challenges Baird, that would mean the republican vote would be chopped into thirds [...]

don't miss the last First Friday of the summer

Dance your way through Art Walk this Friday: Main Street will be closed for dancing in the street between 11th & 7th, with the party continuing up north in Uptown Village (Main Street between McLoughlin & Fourth Plain).

I’ll be there with my jewelry (in front of Mermaid Music, 2312 Main St.), along with my friend Missy* who indulges in decorative paper art of [...]
