Crist and Progressive Democrats of America

Progressive Democrats of AmericaImage via Wikipedia

Dear friends of my campaign,

Below is a letter I received from the state organizer of Progressive Democrats of America.  If you would like to connect with her, please do so.  I am very grateful for her efforts on behalf of our progressive values.

Also, this letter could serve as a model for one you may want to send to your friends.

In peace and friendship,
Cheryl

Dear Progressive Democrats,

Your primary ballot will arrive in your mailbox shortly.  The primary poll voting date is August 19, 2008.  I’d like to recommend to you a candidate who is progressive in every way: Cheryl Crist.

As you may know, Progressive Democrats of America have worked tirelessly for Single Payer Not for Profit Health Care, Restoration of the Constitution/Impeachment, and Ending the War in Iraq.  Cheryl Crist will stand for these measures if elected to Congress as your Representative.    Crist’s stated goals are:

  • Universal Health Care. We need a single-payer system to preserve choice and lower cost.
  • Renewable Energy. We need a national commitment that will end foreign energy dependence.
  • Restore the Constitution. We need to secure again for all Americans privacy, civil rights, and the rule of law.
  • Public Campaign Financing. We need to invest in democracy so that all voices can be heard, not just lobbyists
  • Out of Iraq NOW. We need to end the Iraq war immediately, to stop the violence and instead fund our real priorities.

She states, “Americans know we have to set this country back on the right path with respect to health care, energy, democracy, and the Constitution, and we know what needs to be done.”

Please help elect a Progressive to the House by voting for Cheryl Crist in the upcoming primary.  If we are to achieve our goals as Progressive’s we must vote our values.

To learn more about Crist, go to her website at:  http://www.cristforcongress.us/index.htm If you can help with a contribution of any size, please do so through the website, where you can also volunteer to help.   Tell your friends and neighbors about the Peace Candidate this week.

While I am the Washington State Organizer for Progressive Democrats of America, I make this endorsement as a individual.
If you would like PDA to endorse Crist, please click here and send me an email with the subject line stating “endorse Crist.”

Yours in Peace and Solidarity,

Judith Shattuck

  1. Does Crist have a decent chance of winning? Speaking of voting, I received my primary/special election ballot today. Being new in town, I am at a loss in many cases. Anyone got a good progressive ballot checklist they are willing to share? I found this, what do you folks think?

Cheryl is up against an incumbent with a $1 million campaign fund so it is an uphill battle. She deserves our support for many reasons over the other candidates.

Who to support depends on your district. Getting my vote locally for sure are:

    Probst
    Carrier
    Brokaw

I think people should support candidates who best represent their values. Crist deserves a lot of credit for her persistence and willingness to take on an incumbent with a huge campaign fund. She will vote to bring troops home safely from Iraq and restore the Constitution.

  2. On the WA State Democrat website, Cheryl Crist is not even

listed as a candidate. I wrote them a message asking

why. Turns out that the big Democratic tent purported to house

a wide diversity of opinions is actually a sham.

Apparently supporting the Democratic platform and representing

majority Democratic viewpoints does not matter. Incumbency

and money are top priorities. Inviting enthusiasm and new people

into the Party do not seem to be important values for the leadership.

It makes me sad to see such a lack of democratic

    principles with the Democratic Party.

“Campaign for Change” is a good slogan — too bad

that it holds so little meaning and is not being implemented

within the Party. At the very least, legitimate candidates

within the party that are on the ballot need to be listed on

    the official Party web site!

Ideas are welcome for a long-term solution to this unsatisfactory

    situation !!!

P.S. Let’s all hope that Party leaders get a big surprise on Aug. 19th!

We need Cheryl Crist in Congress representing us.
