Michelle Obama
Is it really any wonder that Michele Obama has a popularity problem? She is black and a woman. There are tons of ignorant people in this country who will not approve of a black or a woman no matter how good, how smart or how deserving she is of their grace.
This is why Barack, if he makes it to the Oval office, will truly be a minor miracle in the making. When you start off with a certain percentage of people that will not vote for you under any circumstances due to their racism, it means you have to get a much higher percentage of the rest of the voters in order to win. If he wins by 51% of the vote, it really means he has won by a landslide because of the significant percentage of the voting public that let their racist beliefs control their voting behavior.
Heck, even someone’s name can be a hindrance to obtaining votes so can you imagine what a factor like race plays in the dynamic?
Politics is a game of trying to get the majority of undecideds (latest poll says the % 0f the undecided voters is 14%) on your side who actually represent a small minority of the voters. Many people know from the start who they are voting for and will not waver in that regard especially if it is based on rascism or gender discrimination.  In the case of a black (and/or female candidate), the road will therefore always be much tougher because you are handicapped from the beginning.
Let us hope that Obama can pull off this minor miracle.
