Democracy for Vancouver

First we had a two-headed kitten, then a two-faced kitten. This morning? An infant with two faces, in full color on A8.

She’s from India, with no connection to Vancouver, or Washington or even the U.S. There is no reference to treatment or screening for genetic anomalies, or lifesaving medical breakthroughs that might be available to help this little girl.

It’s not news. It’s genetic freak porn. It’s exploitation, and it’s nauseating. They can’t put topless babes on A8 to grab our attention, so we get this instead.

A note to the copy editors at the Columbian (of which my husband used to be one, so I know how many hundreds of images they have to choose from on any given day): just because a juicy photo comes across the wire doesn’t mean you have to put it in the paper.

It’s a morning paper, guys. Have pity on us, and some respect for the humanity of those you exploit for the paper’s gain.
