Obama.

Edwards has left the race, and faced with the choices remaining, it’s more a matter of who I can’t vote for than who I can.

Obama might make a fabulous president. He might be the reincarnation of JFK. But I worry that all this talk of bipartisanship will just hand the game over to the GOP, as Pelosi and Reid have done so many times before.

I doubt Edwards would accept a VP slot even if it was offered to him - and I don’t think either Clinton or Obama want to be saddled with that kind of tie to Kerry’s lackluster bid in 2004 (which was no fault of Edwards - Kerry kept him muzzled throughout that campaign).

But Edwards would make the best Attorney General this country has ever seen. He would go after the fraud and abuse perpetrated by government contractors in Iraq, Afghanistan and with regard to the Katrina response; he would enforce Antitrust laws; and, he would prosecute corporate malfeasance. Next to the presidency, Edwards could serve his country best at the Justice Department.

A gal’s gotta have hope.

  1. Antitrust, corporate malfeasance… Is there such a thing anymore? We also need a Congress (and President) that can turn the idea of corporate regulation into something more than a dirty word. And that is going to be difficult when Congress is mostly working, financially speaking, for those they regulate. I’d begin with CEO salary limits and media reform.

Obama has publicly supported public financing of campaigns. That’s a start.

Edwards as AG would be interesting. Wish he would throw his support to Obama before Super Tuesday but if he is looking to get hired by the winner, that’s not going to happen.

    Signed,
