The ACLU is hosting Close Guantanamo Day today; please write your congressperson and Senators - and even your presidential candidate - and demand that this insult to human rights and democracy be closed forever.
I am in the middle of reading The Eight O’Clock Ferry to the Windward Side by human rights attorney Clive Stafford Smith about the detainees, their lives before Guantanamo, and how they are surviving after six years in our gulag by the bay. I highly recommend it - even though it will anger you to the edge of reason, and break your heart.
