Kucinich could tip the scale to Obama in Iowa

The Los Angeles Times and the New York Times are reporting this morning that Rep. Dennis Kucinich is asking his supporters in Iowa to support Obama in the caucus (if there is not enough support for himself). A similar action by Kucinich in the 2004 Iowa caucus for Edwards was credited as helping Edwards finish second in that caucus. This will certainly have a small positive effect for Obama.

Being part of the “anybody but Hillary” camp, it is good to see this maneuvering as a way to stop Clinton II. It has been my hope for some time that Obama and Edwards would figure out a similar way to work with each other to ensure that the Clinton-Bush dynasty is not continued beyond 2009.

It seems to me that Edwards-Obama could both end up in better positions if they would figure out a way to not split the vote among themselves thereby enabling Hillary to sweep the primaries.

  1. I’m just hoping Edwards comes out ahead of them. Obama is a poser, and Clinton is a sell-out. Edwards is the “real-deal” IMHO

  2. I agree with Beth, though I don’t know if Obama is a ‘poser’ exactly. I do know that Edwards is the real deal, and it’s time for us to get a candidate who is the real deal.

  3. Edwards is much better on health care reform and sounds like he will at least try to shake up the DC establishment’s stranglehold on power.
