Washblog has an article that is all about the upcoming caucuses in Washington State. This is a good starting place for anyone wanting more information about how the caucus vs. primary system works in this state and the reasons for participating or not depending on what you think of the process and the parties.

My own opinion having been through the entire caucus system all the way to being a delegate to the Boston DNC in 2004 is that the initial caucus is a good way to connect with politically motivated people in your immediate neighborhood. The county convention is a good way to meet and hear speeches from local party activists and politicians. I recommend everyone who wants to participate in our democracy attend these two activities.

And there is always the possibility (albeit unlikely) that the caucus system in Washington may play a role in determining who is nominated at the national convention.
