Nick Nyhart is the Executive Director of Public Campaign, a national organization dedicated to public financing of elections. Last Wednesday Nick came to Seattle and met with Washington Public Campaigns (WPC) staff and volunteers. WPC videotaped his 20 minute talk about what is happening in other states and nationwide concerning the public financing movement.
For those of you frustrated that the “people” have been forgotten in politics, this clean campaign movement is gaining tremendous momentum and imo is one of just a few available ways that we (meaning “we, the people”) are going to take back political power. If you think phoning or emailing your Congressperson is going to overcome the massive amounts of campaign and lobbyist contributions and influence, this movement is not for you.
If you truly want to make a difference and change our absurdly corrupt political system for the better, please get involved by supporting Public Campaign and Washington Public Campaigns. For more information, please visit WPC’s website. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list there also on the site to stay informed.
