Dear Progressives -

Hi. Some of you were at the Clark County MoveOn meeting last night. I brought up the issue of SR 1959. This bill will create a commission to study "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism." This looks to me like more encroachment on our civil liberties. The ACLU shares this view.

The full title is: "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007."

Full bill text:

It seems that the bill's authors are very concerned about the use of the internet to spread terrorism. So I am very concerned about this bill.

In any case, I urge you all to contact our Senators, Murray and Cantwell, and ask them to oppose this bill. The house has already passed it, so there is no point in contacting Brian Baird about this issue.

Murray: 360/696-7797
http://murray.senate.gov/email/index.cfm

Cantwell: 360/696-7838
http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/

Thanks!

Bushtool asks where are the "old" Howard Dean people? I'd say they mostly disappeared as they had the WRONG guy! I was there, outside and protesting Dean with my Dennis Kucinich sign. DK is still at it and I'll probably show up for him AGAIN at the February caucus. However, if and when he turns over his delegates, I'd support Cynthia McKinney who is running on the Green Party.

Are these Move-On meetings at the Hough School? I'd like them to be more central, like at the public library on Mill Plain.

Peace on Earth. Isn't that what this seasonal holiday is about? gk

Just finished reading David Michael Green's latest blog post and recommend it as both a history lesson and a reminder of what is being done in our names by the Bush crime family.

"To a very large extent, those who would ignore the crimes committed in their name – crimes they have the power to stop – become criminals themselves." David Michael Green
