From the Columbian:
Local residents are invited to sample Northwest wines and enjoy gourmet appetizers at a fund-raising party for police-dog programs in Clark County. The food and wine are included in the ticket price.
The festivities will include live music, magicians, a DJ, rides in limousines -and rides in horse-drawn carriages if the weather is good.
The party will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E.B. Hamilton Hall, 605 Barnes St. in the Vancouver National Historic Reserve.
Tickets are $35, or $30 with a bag of dog or cat food for local animal shelters.
In keeping with the reserve’s rich history, members of the Heritage Ambassadors, a theater group, will mingle with guests in character as folks from the old days.
And police K-9 teams will be there to answer questions and demonstrate what they do.
The event was inspired by the slaying on Oct. 23 of the Vancouver police tracking dog Dakota.
