So, what does David Koresh, Barney the Dinosaur, Lindy England, Matchbox 20, hamsters and New Age music have in common?
Lots, according to British journalist Jon Ronson.
Ronson, whose book The Men Who Stare at Goats was one of my favorite reads this busy summer, did a companion piece TV series entitled Crazy Rulers of the World.
It’s every bit as batshit crazy as his book, made all the more jaw-droppingly surreal by some (apparently) genuine interviews and videos of events depicted therein.
“This story is about what happened when a small group of men - highly placed within the United States military, the government and the intelligence services - began believing in some very strange things.”
It’s all viewable in three, forty-nine minute chunks:
Crazy Rulers of the World (1/3) - The Men Who Stare at Goats
Crazy Rulers of the World (2/3) - Funny Torture
Crazy Rulers of the World (3/3) - Psychic Foot Soldiers
