<description>You might want to read the Puzzle Palace to get an overview of the tension between privacy rights and national security needs has played out over time. Having personally seen the good, bad, and ugly involved during the late 1960's, I think we haven't yet arrived at a solution that protects either privacy or security. We are going to have to come up with that solution soon.

Its starting to come home to roost that our dollar has been seriously devaluated. Eventually, prices may go up in a startling manner. Some think that is very soon. $3.00 per gallon gasoline is very, very cheap folks when you consider the price elsewhere.

Part of the Port of Vancouver's plan is to make way for the shipping company to bring in up to 500,000 vehicles a year from Asia. That shipping company is involved in another port deal (in China) to export up to 500,000 vehicles a year. That deal makes the Salmon Creek WalMart situation look like a miniscule issue. The other plan to haul in massive amounts of wood waste into the Port for ethanol production is similarly fatally flawed.

Slim I am with you. This is going to be a beautiful weekend before the rains close in. Get outside and enjoy it. I'm headed for the VA this morning for my socialized medical flu shot fix then I'll be outdoors as well.
