Lifepac endorsed candidate running as a Democrat

There’s generally a vetting process for when candidates decide to run for office, with the local party doing the heavy lifting with a prospective candidates positions. After some simple Googling of announced 18th Legislative District State Representative candidate Vanessa Duplessie on the Democratic side, we learn the the following:

8. When is taking the life of a pre-born child through abortion permissible?

a) To save the live of the Mother
c) In case of rape or incest

Meaning of course that abortion is not permissible unless either of these two conditions are met.

Ah, but there’s something for everyone, including those who deny science:

10. Should the school district allow the teaching of “Intelligent Design Theory” in addition to Evolutionary Theory?

Yes

Nowhere on her campaign web site does she mention that she’s a Democrat, which if I remember my PDC regulations properly, is illegal.

So this particular Democrat, at least in 2005, was apparently for abstinence-only education, against birth control education in schools, for the use of taxpayer money for home-schooling, for mandatory parental notification before minors can receive an abortion, and supports the teaching of “intelligent design” in the public schools.

Some Democrat. There used to be a word for people like that.

Oh yeah. It’s “Republican.”

There’s a LOT more to come on this, but since the local party doesn’t seem to have done the requisite background checks, the local blogs will.

  1. UPDATE: It’s not PDC regs that require partisan identification, but RCW:

For partisan office, if a candidate has expressed a party or independent preference on the declaration of candidacy, that party or independent designation shall be clearly identified in electioneering communications, independent expenditures, or political advertising.

  2. Someone needs to audit Lifepacs books. Here we go again. The only legitimate use for Lifepac is to decide who not to vote for.

  3. Take a look at a survey that anyone has done, and it’s just that, a survey. You have an “option” and pick “the best one”, not necessarily the perfect one. Too bad surveys don’t allow total freedom of speach, but rather give leading questions that people use against others when the time is right!
