Full Time Job

After going through a primary and sitting with incumbents including my opponent, I discovered from the incumbents the same theme. It is “that I have a regular job and the city council job is not that job”. In looking into the last minutes of the Salary Review Commission I found that city council two city council members feel that devoting 20-22 hours of their time per week is adequate for the job.

My own feeling is that the job of a city councilman for a city the size of Vancouver is a full time job and needs a full time effort to protect the interest of its citizens. To that end, I intend to devote at least 40 hours a week to give full value to the person that pays, the taxpayer. After recent decisions such as giving away people’s property to an insider developer, it is time to look after the hard working people of this city.

Remember my original commitment is and still is not to accept any campaign contributions from any special interest individuals or groups including anyone doing business with the city of Vancouver.

You as a taxpayer and citizen of Vancouver USA deserve the dignity and respect that is needed at the city council at this time. It will be my pleasure to serve you. I’ll put in the time needed to do a job for you the taxpayer. Make your vote count for a real change in Vancouver city government.

Thank you for your vote in the primary election. Donald Yingling has thrown his full support to my campaign. We share many views on how city government should change to be a voice of the people. He is truly a gentleman and I respect him and his opinions.

  1. I met Charlie at Saturday market. While he did not sign my impeach Bush/Cheney petition, I did get the sense he would put people first in Vancouver. I want to throw the incumbents out.
