I find it agonizingly painful to come to the realization of how corrupt our
government has become. If you haven’t read the book “Hostile Takeover”
by David Sirota I highly recommend that we all need to read it. If you have
read the book and have seen the movie “Sicko” then you might just understand
how upset I became when I received a newsletter form my Representative,
Brian Baird, yesterday. In it he proposed a national healthcare system
based on us all being mandated to pay for private health insurance.
Even current health insurance plans currently provided by employers
would be eliminated under his plan. His crazy rationale was the
the private insurers, when faced with the prospect of us all having to have
their insurance, that this would create so much competition between the
insurers that we would naturally all benefit from the low cost health
insurance that they would magically provide. Horse Pucky!!!!
If you read David Sirotas’ book you will see time after time where
politicians say they are doing us a favor while all the time they are
actually putting the screws to us. Enough is enough! I am for taking this
fight to the streets. This isn’t a Republican issue,, (all though they are
more obvious about it) or a Democrat issue. This is an issue of who is
running our country. And I for one am damn tired of a bunch of greedy
crooks and corporations running our country. It’s time to take it back!!!
We are having a meeting at the Fort Vancouver Library on August 15th at
7P.M. downstairs. Bring a friend and let’s talk about what WE can do to make
a difference. I would like to end with four of my favorite quotes.
The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth
of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic
state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by
an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough
to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well
enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
EDWARD DOWLING
The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first,
the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and
second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it. [1941]
EDWARD BURKE
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do
nothing.
