1. As I responded to Vancouver for Peace talk, Brian Baird’s health plan is NOT Universal Health Care. It is based on private insurance, and I am repulsed.

   I’ll be at the library meeting and bring my impeachment petitions. I ought to get lots of signatures there. I’m presenting them to Baird’s office every Monday thru September’s DC actions.

   If Baird has a Town Hall during his August vacation, I intend to stand outside and ask for his signature (to present to him) as he enters. I will not recognize him inside.

   President who seemingly wants to be king, and a
   Congress unable and unwilling to oppose him….

   We are in a very grave constitutional crisis folks. I
   encourage every one of you to make a noise in the
   offices of Murray, Cantwell, and your congressional
   representative. Silence is the death of democracy….

   We are, I repeat, in a grave, surreal even,
   constitutional crisis. We are dealing with a
   spirituality of tyranny; an unleashing of ruthless,
   arrogant power that corrupts all it touches. It’s time
   to get angry and cast out this unclean spirit from our
   land.

   Such a statement can now get me arrested, disappeared,
   and stripped of all assets. Is this America? Is this
   the country in which we have been raised? And how
   long, friend, until you yourself awaken only to
   discover that there is now a knock on your door?

   I call upon all who care to assemble at Trinity United
   Methodist Church, (6512 23rd Ave NW 98117) Wednesday
   evening August 1st at 7pm. There we will stratigize
   how to reclaim the power of the people, the birthright
   we share from our heritage of democracy.

3. As a retired person on a limited income, I already pay too much in taxes. Now they want us to pay for someone else’s health care? This crap about being my brothers keeper has gone to far.

   If you don’t have health care for yourself and family, then I suggest you find a job that will have those benefits, or buy your own with your money, not mine.

   These bottom feeding politicians are about two steps below child molesters they way they are doing their jobs. Congress will not impeach Bush or Cheney or the attorney general.

   And any protester will,as bushtool said, leave you without anything except the crossbar motel as your place of residence. Are we living in the land of the free, or pre-WWII Germany?

4. On Jan. 24, 2007, Reps. John Conyers and Dennis Kucinich led 43 other House members in introducing HR 676, the Conyers/Kucinich Health Care bill. Today the bill, is supported by 78 members of Congress, 250 union locals, and more than 14,000 physicians. HR 676 is endorsed by the New Hampshire State Legislature and by Michael Moore, producer of SICKO.

   The bill covers all health care needs, including dental care, mental health, vision, prescription drugs and long-term care. You choose your health care providers, they provide the health care you need, the federal government pays the bills.

   “Insurance companies are holding our health care system hostage and forcing millions of Americans into poverty with unconscionable premiums, co-pays, deductibles. We’ve got to have not-for-profit health care, and get the insurance companies out of the picture. Health care is not a privilege, it is a right, and it is a human right.” Dennis Kucinich

5. It has been a looooong time since I visited or commented. I couldn’t resist the temptation here…Baird. The flaming-sell-out of a disappointment. I can’t believe I actually volunteered for this turd. I have contacted him every week for months now. His healthcare plan I call “The Marie Antoinette Bill.”

   Let’s also not forget the “Forestry Logging Salvage” giveaway…

6. Or the bankruptcy bill vote. And he thinks the Iraqis want us occupying their country. And he has HillarySpeak when it comes to Iran.

   It seems our foreign policy has devolved into speak loudly and carry a little stick.

   The perception is that he is bullet-proof in a primary challenge. But there is an awful lot of discontent so maybe someone will surprise us.

7. I don’t get it, especially when compared to his fellow New Democrat, Adam Smith. Smith took a LOT of heat for his votes from progressives, and he took his medicine and modified his ways. Baird seems to think that 90’s era Democratic triangulation is still the model. Granted, there are incredibly conservative enclaves of the 3rd Congressional District (Lewis County anyone?), but to kowtow to these voters while ignoring the changing demographics of Clark County is political suicide.

   This is not your father’s Oldsmobile, Mr. Baird.
