Why isn’t Brian Baird a Co-Sponsor to H.R. 333?

In response to the earlier post calling for "3 Hero's" to co-sponsor H.R. 333 so that Conyers will start impeachment proceedings, I have to ask a very simple question:

Why isn't Brian Baird a Co-Sponsor to H.R. 333?

Setting aside Mr. Baird's other initiatives for a moment we must consider a very real point.  If we don't restore the rule of law NOW and use IMPEACHMENT as a tool to hold this administration accountable, then any other initiative the Mr. Baird pushes for on our behalf will be absolutely meaningless as we watch our constitution destroyed.

I propose that if Mr. Baird doesn't sign on to this resolution of impeachment, then we hold him accountable to that by voting him out of office in 2008.

We must all contact Congressman Baird and DEMAND that he sponsor this resolution or he look for work elsewhere in 2008.

For maximum effect call or fax Baird at: DC Phone: 202-225-3536 DC Fax: 202-225-3478.

This is up to us.

  1. I’m taking impeachment petitions with me and will turn them in Mondays at Baird’s office. There’ll be a tent city in DC about the last week of September. If Baird hasn’t signed on by then, I propose a sit-in at his office. Marion and I have talked about it. Pass the word. Baird needs to follow the majority of people who have had it with this administration.

  2. That sounds excellent! We need to give him hell during the upcoming recess. Where can I sign that petition?

  3. I’ll be at the Vancouver for Peace visibility sign-waving Thursdays (today) from 4:30 for an hour along Mill Plain at the library. I’ll carry the petition with me then. Or contact me at geekortes617@hotmail.com

  4. Ummmm….

Why is Congress getting a recess? The troops in Iraq aren’t getting a holiday. They need to stay in session for the entire month until this “war thing” is sorted out.

  5. Alright, time for pitchforks, man the barricades!

Just got off the phone with Baird’s office and they are in recess during the entire month of August. During that time, he is not holding any in-district meetings. He will be available for a town hall in October.

This “French-style” approach to the summer season is just amazing.

  6. Do we have a letter drafted and ready to present to Baird with the petitions explaining the consequences of not sponsoring impeachment? If not I would be willing to draft it. We could use the pressure of the October town hall to hold his feet to the fire. If he is smart, he will join Kucinich before he returns for recess to avoid a tough town hall meeting.

  7. My intention is to go to his office weekly on Monday with petitions I’ve got during the week to put continual pressure on him. Go ahead and draft a letter. I will too. The more the better. I intend to bring petitions about 2:15-2:30 Monday. Join me!

Town Hall meetings have left me very frustrated in the past. He lets some talk on-and-on, and I don’t get called on. I’ll stand outside with a sign and petitions.

Check out his latest healthcare proposal and I am sure you will find your answer. It seems our Congressman wants to mandate that everyone must have PRIVATE health insurance. His proposal would also mandate that employers who currently offer health insurance drop their plans. Brian assures us that the private insurers will gladly bestow us all with low cost health insurance due to the fact that there would be so much competition between the private heath insurance companies. And don’t forget the HUGE savings we will all be privy to thanks to the fact that our tax dollars will no longer have to pay for people getting their healthcare from emergency rooms. Oh thank you Brian Baird for using the vaseline when you screw us all!!!!!! This is the kind of lie you will find time and time again in the book “Hostile Takeover” by David Sirota.
To be an informed citizen you MUST read this book. Page after page of gut wrenching corruption of our elected officials.
We must organize as a people. Remember Marin Luther King? Remember the lunchcounter boycott and the bus boycott? They started with a relative few people and changed our nation. We can do the same. We just have to give a damn and believe in ourselves.
We are having a meeting of concerned citizens August 15th at 7 PM at the Fort Vancouver Library, downstairs. Nothing organized just people getting together to voice their concerns and come up with ideas for action. Bring a friend, we need you.
