IVAW reanacts daily events that are going down in Iraq right in downtown Manhattan, including detaining suspected insurgents and dealing with a hostile crowd.
Freaking brilliant!
The adage “in war, truth is the first casualty” is generally attributed to the ancient Greek playwrite Aeschylus, and the words still ring true a few millenia later.
Over Memorial Day weekend 2007, members of Iraq Veterans Against the War revived Aeschylus’ saying with Operation First Casualty. Simulating sniper fire and mass detentions on the streets of Manhattan, these antiwar veterans brought home a small piece of the Iraq War, and the meerkats were there to film it.
Seen in the interview was Adam Kokesh, who was threatened with an other-than-an-honorable discharge by the Marine Corp for wearing his uniform at the event.
