Mr. Gonzales has testified before Senate and House Judiciary Committee hearings with respect to the recent purge of attorneys from the Department of Justice. Many of his assertions regarding several key aspects of this scandal, including the cause of dismissal, involvement by administration officials in the dismissals (including himself), and his knowledge thereof have been flatly contradicted by the testimony of others as well as other finding of fact such as email correspondence. So much of Mr. Gonzales’s testimony, made under oath, have been proven so demonstrably false such that it strains all belief that such statements were made in good faith of finding of fact. This sworn testimony constitutes a prima facie case of perjury, giving false statements, and/or obstruction of justice. It is up to all of us to urge the House of Representative to convene immediately in order to commence deliberations for handing down Articles of Impeachment against Mr. Gonzales pertinent to the aforementioned offenses. Should an impending no-confidence vote in the Senate actually induce Mr. Gonzales to resign before he can be impeached citizens of conscience and faithful defense of our Constitution should demand that his successor at the DoJ to immediately begin criminal proceedings and finally put to end this insidious pattern of Administration officials being allowed to escape justice by agreeing to return to private life.

Furthermore, Congress should recognize that current holder of the Office of the President of the United States has recently, repeatedly, and publicly expressed full confidence in Mr. Gonzales in his capacity as Attorney General. This de facto endorsement of Mr. Gonzales’ illegal activities, committed expressly in his capacity as Attorney General, and in gross subversion that office as well as our system of government as prescribed in the Constitution of The United States, should be sufficient grounds for the Congress to hold George W. Bush equally and criminally liable.
