“Street Speech and the First Amendment”
7-9 PM, Thurs., May 3
Guest Speaker: Steve Wilker, ACLU of
Oregon cooperating attorney.
Steve will provide an overview of free speech rights associated with protests and marches. A question and answer session will follow.
A panel, Marian Ward; Linda Wiener; Desiree Helleger; Karen Kulm from local organizations will also speak about their local experiences engaging in street speech.
LOCATION:
The First Congregational Church.
The street address is 1220 NE 68th St. map
Traveling North on I-5 from Portland take the #3 Exit. It will become Hwy 99 as you head north. Go through two stop lights, the third light will be 68th Street (Jumbo’s Texaco is on the corner)… turn right and go up the hill about 3 blocks and the church will be on your left at the top of the hill.
Traveling South on I-5 from Seattle take the #4 Exit. When you come down the off-ramp turn left and go under the I-5 and up one block to Hwy 99. Turn right on Hwy 99 and go south to the second stop light on 68th (Jumbo’s Texaco is on the corner). Turn left on 68th and go up the hill about 3 blocks and the church will be on your left at the top of the hill.
