Democracy for Vancouver

I’ve been repulsed by the extreme push by CCN to put out a bilious, hate-filled program by Glenn Beck, EXPOSED: The Extremist Agenda. Last week his meme-supporting stunts included questioning whether a newly elected Keith Ellison (D-MN) - who is a Muslim - if he was “working with our enemies”.
But more disturbing to me is that the ad for this series is running all over the blogosphere and not just in the usual, rightwing circles alongside spots for Malkin, O’Reilly or Coulter. Air America runs the radio spot right during it’s prime programming, but being a largely Clear Channel run operation, it’s hardly surprising and the sales and distribution of ad-time tends to be somewhat generic across the somewhat limited political spectrum.
But the shocker for me is that Atrios would sell ad space for it. He did talk about it briefly here, but I’m just rather flabbergasted that they would choose to run it.
He sort of does the equivalent to a bit they did on 30 Rock last Thursday night, where they talk about the horrors of product placement and then proceed to place Snapple within the same breath with a sly wink towards us the viewer. Funny, right? It was funny back in the first Wayne’s World movie and the checks are still still good today.
But I’m sick of the Big Suck…
…I’m tired of people selling out their principles for cash.
Atrios can make whatever claims about needing to keep the blog solvent as it’s his full-time job, but it’s to be assumed that he’s also blogging about politics because he believes in progressive causes. There’s no doubt in my mind that he does, but doesn’t it erode or work against what you do if you help the other side find a wider audience, especially a hate-filled program like EXPOSED?
Shame on you Atrios.
But then, I’m just a lowly hobby-blogger.
